Palo Santo (holy wood)

Palo Santo sticks come from the Guaiac tree. This is a tree that mainly grows in South America. One waits for the branches to fall from the tree and then allows them to dry for four to ten years before sawing them into sticks. This maturation process gives the sticks the unique scent that is necessary for energetically purifying a space.

More than incense

Palo Santo is not only used to purifying spaces or remove negative entities. Burning Palo Santo would also have a beneficial effect on various discomforts such as colds, flu, stress, asthma, headaches, fears, depression, inflammation, abdominal pain and rheumatism.

Method

Normal usage

• light a stick and then blow it out so that it smokes like incense
• move the stick through the room as you would with sage
  

For the respiratory tract

• put a piece of wood in boiling water and put it in a bowl
• inhale the smoke emanating from the water (like a steam bath)
• this has a direct, relieving effect on the airways
